What happens to your information

Short version: the free tool collects nothing at all, and the enquiry form collects only what you type into it.

The free tool

It sends nothing anywhere. PubFile Rescue runs entirely on your own computer. It has no internet connection, no telemetry, no licence check and no way of reporting back to me. I cannot tell whether you ran it, how many files you converted, or what was in them. The download itself needs no email address or account.

The enquiry form

If you fill in the form, I receive your organisation name, your name, your email address and whatever you write in the message box. It is delivered to me by email through Netlify, who host this site. I use it to answer you and, if you go ahead, to do the work and invoice you. I do not sell it, share it, or add you to any mailing list — there isn't one.

Ask me to delete it and I will, that day. There is no form for this; just email and say so.

Files you send me

If you send Publisher files so I can rebuild a template, I keep them only as long as the job takes and delete them afterwards. I don't use your content for anything else, and I won't show your publication as an example without asking you first.

Analytics and advertising

This site uses Google Analytics and Google Ads conversion tracking, which set cookies and tell me things like how many people visited, roughly where from, and which search brought them here. It tells me that someone downloaded the tool — not who. If you'd rather not be counted, any browser's tracking protection or an ad blocker will stop it, and the site works exactly the same either way.

Cold email

If I emailed you first, I found your address published on your own organisation's website or a public directory, and I collected it by hand — I don't run scrapers, which Australian law prohibits outright. Reply asking me to stop and I will not contact you again. I keep a note of your address for that purpose only, which is the one way to guarantee it.
